Today,
NEA is recognized as an innovative company specializing in
the design, development, qualification and production of
non-explosive Separation Mechanisms,Battery
Cell Isolation Switches and Electrical Interconnect Devices
for the aerospace and satellite industries. Throughout
the past several years NEA has grown to become a proven supplier
of quality products for such aerospace companies as Boeing,
EADS Astrium, Raytheon, Alcatel, Lockheed Martin, Spectrum
Astro, SAFT, Loral Space Systems, Alenia Spazio and others.
NEA
has successfully addressed a need expressed in recent years
by both the National
Aeronautics and Space Administration
(NASA) and the European Space Agency (ESA) to find a preferred
alternative to the traditional explosive actuator. NEA satisfied
NASA’s objective by developing a reliable, fast-acting,
sure release, low shock output, non-explosive separation mechanism
with redundant release features. NEA mechanisms eliminate the
residue and shock produced by explosive devices and are factory
refurbishable for extended use.
The Battery Cell Isolation Switches were developed to facilitate
the isolation of a failed battery pack or a failed battery
cell within a battery pack, thereby eliminating the need to
shut down the entire pack if a failure occurs.
The
Electrical Interconnect Devices includes a connector design
that satisfies a need for zero separation force between the
plug and receptacle connectors and incorporates contact arrangements
based on military specifications. NEA also produces a laser
initiated umbilical connector designed and developed for
use on the National Missile Defense Program.
