NEA’s extensive engineering and design capabilities cover every aspect of our extensive product line. Tools developed in-house allow our engineering team to quickly modify and optimize our standard product offering for applications that require customization. Additionally aggressive internal research and development programs continue to develop new mechanisms, actuators and components to augment our product catalog, improve existing products and develop enabling technologies for our customers.
A partial list of our design competencies includes:
NEA’s primary mechanical design tool is SolidWorks 3D CAD however on occasion other tools are employed as necessary where efficiency gains can be realized. Altium Designer is used by NEA’s electronics design teams for circuit design, simulation and printed circuit board layout. The two design tools provide tight integration allowing the exchange of model data and the verification of packaging clearances.
NEA’s engineering team features industry experts with over a half century of experience in the design of spaceflight mechanisms, release devices and actuators. NEA’s engineers regularly participate in internal peer reviews to verify design integrity, bring additional perspective to the design process and to provide mentoring and cross pollination of ideas. NEA, as a subsidiary of Ensign-Bickford Aerospace and Defense (EBAD), also has direct access to the engineering organization of EBAD which shares all of the same design tools and access to shared databases, analysis tools and CAD vaults. Both NEA and EBAD benefit from this close relationship and frequently share technical expertise, design developments and personnel.
